Showstars Combo Ballet & Tap

We offer this combo class for beginner-intermediate level dancers. We have a mini class for 5-7 year olds and a junior class for 8-12 year olds. In this combination course, students will learn fundamental Ballet & Tap technique while having FUN! Showstars is a dance curriculum program written by Tiffany Henderson, a dance professional out of California. Some of Tiffany’s accomplishments are as follows: In 1992 she was awarded a one-year scholarship to the renowned Tremaine Dance Center in Hollywood. At the completion of her scholarship she performed as the Tremaine Scholarship Show Featured Dancer. She continued her professional studies at the prestigious School of Dance at the University of Arizona, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in Dance in 1997. Tiffany’s career highlights include: performances with Quinn/Williams Jazz at the 1995 Jazz Dance World Congress in Nagoya, Japan; the 1996 Jazz World Congress at Washington’s Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; the opening of the International Theatre School in Amsterdam, Holland in 1997 and at Symphony Hall in Phoenix, Arizona. She was also a member of Zohar Dance Company, has performed in many industrial shows, including the Microsoft Global Summit and American Greeting Cards, and was a soloist with La JAZDANZ of Louisiana, a company she was instrumental in bringing to the Amador Theatre in Pleasanton for a concert in 2002. With the use of a dance curriculum, you can rest assured that your child is receiving the best possible dance education and that the skills they are learning are age appropriate and will prepare them for the next level of dance.

Acrobatic Arts

Dance Arts South is the ONLY certified studio in Mobile or Baldwin counties! This program was developed by a dance professional in Canada, and it is based on a safe and effective progression of skills. Students learn appropriate technique in the 5 areas of Acrobatic Arts: flexibility, strength, tumbling, limbering, and balancing. This comprehensive program will train your dancer in a professional and thoughtful way- his or her skills will build on each other from one level to the next. Several professionals provided input to the program, such as chiropractors, physiologists, dance professionals, yoga instructors, sport acrobatics, and more.

Funky Tap & Jazz

In this fun combination course, students will have FUN while learning fundamental tap technique based off of programs written by the famous professional Al Gilbert. Students will learn appropriate and beginner-intermediate jazz technique to enhance coordination, musicality, and overall health and wellness. PERFECT FOR BOYS!

Hip Hop & Jazz

This course is designed for those young dancers who are ready to move their bodies! It is all about non stop movement, fun, cardio,  and creativity! Your young dance will have a blast in this class, and will surely come home to show you the excellent technique, skills, and dances that he or she is learning. PERFECT FOR BOYS!

Preschool Ballet

Preschool Ballet is the foundation of all dance genres in years to come. It is important that this course focuses on age appropriate principles to instill a love for ballet in your little one. Students will learn technical ballet terms and positions, and will be given the opportunity for creative movement- to explore through imagination!

Pre-Ballet & Tap

This is a beginner combination class for 4-5 year old dancers. It is a step up from preschool ballet in the sense that students will be challenged slightly more, while learning fundamental tap and ballet technique and skills. Students will love taking this course with their best friend, and you will be quite impressed by what your little one is learning.

Tiny Tigerettes & Flexibility

Does your little one dream of becoming a BCHS Tigerette? This fun class provides her with the experience! Students will have so much fun building their musicality and coordination to Friday night band music, while also being challenged to improve fundamental skills like splits, kicks, and core strength.

Cheer & Dance Team Preparation

This class is for 5th graders and older who intend on auditioning or trying out for school dance and cheer teams. This class will have a more laid back, private training feel to it. Your dancer can come with a list of skills that she would like to improve, and our staff will safely train her body to be successful with skills needed to accomplish her goal.

Intermediate Ballet & Jazz Technique

This class is for the intermediate dancer hoping to obtain advanced status. He or she should have a passion and a drive to excel in dance and arrive to the class with a mindset ready for hard work and challenges. Intermediate-advanced skills and technique will be taught, practiced, and built upon, and your dancer will surely show significant progression throughout the dance season.

Performance Team

Performance Team is for any level dancer ages 5+. This student should enjoy dancing and have the ability to practice for 3 hours per week. Our performance team will perform at 2-3 community events, and will compete in 1 competition in Mobile, AL. Team members will receive top notch training and choreography in all genres of dance.
